The Song of Tai Chi
The Song of Tai Chi is a new song, also is an old song; it is a song composed for the classroom, also for the great society. It is a song which everybody can know, but not everybody can sing. To sing it is to practice it — to practice it in one's entire daily living. It is a living philosophy; it is a way of life. It is a song of yielding, a song of humility and a song of selflessness. It is a song of love and harmony and of inner peace and joy. It is a song of non-striving, of non-competition, and of non-violence. It is a song of "knowing ourselves rather than others, and conquering ourselves rather than others." It is a song of "to benefit not to harm, and to do our job but compete with no one." It is a song which everybody can know, but not everybody can sing. To sing it is to practice it, to practice it in one’s entire daily living.

Welcome!
We are a community interested in Lui style Tai Chi
Lui Cloud Hands Tai Chi Friends (LCHTC) is a loosely knit group of individuals whose Tai Chi traces back to Hubert H. Lui (1911-1995). The mission of LCHTC is to promote health and well-being for people around the world through the practice and ideals of Tai Chi.
H.H. Lui came to the U.S. in 1956 and settled in Chicago, IL. During the preceding years in Hong Kong, he studied Tai Chi with Cheng Wing-kwong, one of the early students of Wu Chien-chuan (1870-1942). In Chicago, he later continued his study of Tai Chi with Prof. Fok (Hou Chi Kwong). Lui learned the Yang Family Secret Long Form from Prof. Fok.
For the next three decades, Hubert H. Lui dedicated himself to sharing Tai Chi with all who were interested. In the 1970s, Mr. Lui taught Tai Chi at the Columbia College Dance Center. In 1979, after his wife Elsie retired, they moved to San Francisco, where they lived the rest of their lives.
Naturally, Mr. Lui continued to teach Tai Chi in San Francisco. His students there organized a club called Cloud Hands West. In 1980, Mr. Lui and Cloud Hands West organized the first Tai Chi Friends Reunion for Mr. Lui’s students not living in the Bay Area to continue to study with him. In addition, Mr. Lui traveled around the country teaching workshops. Most notable was the Central Michigan University workshop each year. In 1989, the President’s Day Retreat was begun. Both the Tai Chi Friends Reunion and the President’s Day Retreat continue to this day.
Hubert H. Lui passed away in 1995, but his message is continued by the many Tai Chi practitioners he and his students and their students have taught. This website is a place for those interested in the Lui style Tai Chi to meet and learn.
